Job description: Strategic Communications Advisor
Constellation seeks a Strategic Communications Advisor who will lead strategic communications efforts and develop clear, compelling communications for senior leadership, employees, stakeholders, and external audiences. The Specialist will assist in maintaining the program and organizational websites so they remain compelling and current, developing communication plans and managing internal program/organizational communications, supporting media relation efforts including development and distribution of story ideas, press releases and media interviews.

Constellation seeks a Strategic Communications Advisor who will lead strategic communications efforts and develop clear, compelling communications for senior leadership, employees, stakeholders, and external audiences. The Specialist will assist in maintaining the program and organizational websites so they remain compelling and current, developing communication plans and managing internal program/organizational communications, supporting media relation efforts including development and distribution of story ideas, press releases and media interviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute annual strategic communications plans, including objectives, messaging, communications activities, and performance tracking.
- Partner with senior leadership and subject matter experts to develop executive messaging, talking points, remarks, presentations, announcements, and other communications materials.
- Develop communications strategies and messaging for complex programs, initiatives, and organizational priorities.
- Develop reference materials, guidance, and a repository of information regarding strategic communications.
- Manage and maintain content on SharePoint/intranet platforms, ensuring information is accurate, current, accessible, and appropriately targeted to the intended audience.
- Develop and publish quarterly newsletters and other recurring communications.
- Support public affairs and media-related activities, including talking points, story ideas, press materials, and interview preparation, as needed.
- Develop communications products for meetings, events, organizational announcements, and other high-visibility engagements.
- Draft talking points, leadership remarks and comments for various engagements, meetings, and events.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining content on the public facing cbp.gov site.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience supporting the messaging of complex business functions or programs and providing challenging and professional deliverables, products, and services on multiple social media, and communications platforms.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS CBP Tier 5 Background Investigation (BI)
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- High proficiency in MS SharePoint and other Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
